What the hell???
Now, I know it takes a lot more than fire lyrics to make an impact in the music industry, but the thought of stealing even the "average Joe's" lyrics is the sign of a mental state worse than desperation.
It's a shame when a "artist" is so hard-up to make a song that they have to resort to scraping the bottom of the barrel to clone (or copy) other people's words and ideas.
I'm not talking about a phrase or a quote. We all know there are a lot of common phrases and quotes that we all use that is accepted as "general language" (including "idioms" and "metaphors"; etc.). But, the person who posted the idea to "copy and paste free lyrics" sounds like he (or she) is recommending that wannabee artists should steal enough original lyrics to make an entirely new song!
I know it's a "dog eat dog world" out there, but, damn.
What if the lyrics they're stealing aren't "organic freestyles"?
What if the person who's posting the lyrics already have them written down?
What if a True Lyricist or Poet has put his or her heart and soul into some of these lyrics and just wanted to post a sample online for other people to read, critique, and comment on?
Is it okay to steal the lyrics if they have no copyrights? Is that in line with the G-Code???
What if the person who is jackin' lyrics creates a masterpiece or one-hit wonder with a bunch of stolen lyrics? Should the people he (or she) stole the lyrics from get a share of the money for basically writing the song?
Have we reached a point - or, coming near to a point - where nothing new can be said or created, and stealing lyrics is the new way to make good music?
I understand repeating or quoting a fire verse, fire phrase, or fire hook, from someone else's song or track out of Respect, but how can you have respect for yourself or even sleep good at night knowing that someone will eventually call you out for claiming to have written something they wrote?
I don't know... It just doesn't make good sense to me.
I know some people out there are hardcore hustlers and avoid morals, but some things in this World really ought to be Sacred.
